Well we've had another day without snow. But everything's freezing up, so the snow won't be going anywhere just yet.

LG, my mother used to decorate at least one room, a couple of weeks before Christmas ........every year.

I used to dread coming home from school to find all the wall paper off and the furniture piled in the middle of the room. It isn't what you want to see after walking a couple of miles through knee deep snow. I would have preferred a roaring fire and a bowl of hot broth.

I think my mother was obsessed with decorating, she was always wanting to change things.

YG Report 5 Dec 2010 19:13

I bet LG's OH has buried her under the first length of paper!!!

Oooh, peace and quiet at last, no more melodic tones of Queen!

Mazfromnorf Report 6 Dec 2010 05:48

morning all ,well I have no decorations or anything yet i am sending a few cards off today though with letters to family
As to decorating a room it would be even harder as Pauline says in this weather it is hard enough keeping everything clean as it is lol
it is very icy today here I hope by the time i leave for school that the roads are better as staying on my feet may be a problem

Be careful Maz - and everyone who has to go out today - it's very slippery, everything is frozen solid.

Morning - perhap Frog can start a sideline making alpine staff with a spike on the end - that may help stop you from slipping!

Don't go falling off any stepladders LG, and take care everyone else. I'm trying to decided whether to go to the village today, or leave it until tomorrow. I think there are going to be queues when ever I go.

LaGooner Report 6 Dec 2010 09:35

Morning all, just about to venture up the stepladder and get stuck in. Not literally I hope LOL. I will look in a bit later to make sure you are all behaving yourselves LOL

Right - that's one safely back in the nest..only LG to peel off the wall, Pauline to rescue from a snow drift, and YG to extract from the clutches of her manical office spruce up. Yidarmylass could well still be suffering from Friday Night's solitary Celebrations, and RMS choaked on a Chortle.

Ooo, I say...I've been mentioned on the Success Board. Think I'll celebrate on the Throne for a while, lol

Evening all!!

Well, the visit is up and down!! Could be Newcastle, could be Leeds, could be our office!! Still don't know for sure.

Drove to work, main roads ok. but oh goodness me, the road leading to our office was unbelievable. I was shaking when I pulled up in the car park. There are several units there and it is a link road to the motorway so you would think the council would grit it, but no!! But I have got home safely, albeit a couple of slippy incidents. I am going the long way round tomorrow morning!!

Leaving just before 10am for a train to Birmingham and all routes seem ok at the moment, although Peterborough was still causing major problems this morning lol!! Won't be home till 7.15 tomorrow night so a long day.

Are you still up that ladder LG???

Maz, take care on the ice, we don't want any more damaged legs, after Aunty's message.

The shops don't seem too badly stocked up here DET, so I hope you are successful in your visit tomorrow.

Pauline, I guess you are still housebound with the ice. Hope it clears soon for you so you can get some respite from it.

You've got it a bit colder that us tonight Maz, ours is -8°C ..............been like that all day. Mind you, I was sweating when I was out earlier shoveling snow. I cleared most of the patio today because that's where the wheelchair ramp is.

Make sure you wrap up warm tomorrow YG and have a good breakfast before you go.

Think I'll got and have a look at the Success Board and wave at DET.

Edit: Well done DET, *Claps hands*

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 7 Dec 2010 07:26

Yes we've got more snow as well Maz, and our bins didn't get emptied yesterday.

The Day Centre was open yesterday but couldn't get a bus to pick up in this area, think it might be closed again today though.

Keep warm everybody.

Oh dear! I wonder if you are going to have the white stuff for the next few months? It really is hanging around for you further north. Our thaw seems to have ground to a halt for a few days, with a possibility of a couple of cm of snow tomorrow. Main Roads are fine, but it's getting out of our side road which is a bit hairy.

I think I'll go to the village this afternoon - need to go to the PO and the bank as I can't pay my bills on line...it keeps timing out. BT are supposed to have been monitoring our ADSL line and are phoning later this morning. This happens every month and we are getting really pee'd off with it.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 7 Dec 2010 14:31

Late afternoon/Evening all.

Glad things are looking up Maz and that is was a successful day toiling over a hot stove. Somehow it seems to early to be having a Christmas Dinner! If they've managed to sort out the main roads, sounds as if things are getting closer Pauline. Bet the housebound person is missing his friends.

My, YG is turning into a proper train setter; (Can't say Jet Setter as she is travelling by train - lol) London the other week, Birmingham today. Where ever next? Paris by Eurostar?? Hope the journey wasn't too ardorous.

Made it to the PO - 2 counters and a long wait, not helped by the new fangled biometric/digital photo booth they've installed for drivers licences...2 people needing them. But if it helps to keep the PO open..... . Didn't need any food as we got to Sains at the end of last week, but the villlage high street is on a hill and I didn't fancy my chances trying to walk/slip on the pavements. It doesn't take much for my back to 'go'.

Flippin' internet provider didn't phone and now the line keeps 'dropping out'. GRRRRRRR

YG Report 7 Dec 2010 20:03

Evening one and all!!

Well, the train was on time this morning and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey ............................................................. until we got to the outskirts of New Street Station and sat, and sat! An announcement apologising for the delay ............................................................... NO, not snow!! An operating incident had closed the station and they were queuing, waiting for details of if and when it would reopen. I had visions of sitting on there for some time, but fortunately, we were only about 45 mins late in the end. Just made it in time to grab a pasty before the meeting started.

Thank goodness I have no more travelling until March!! (as far as I know, anyway!!)

Just sitting down to grab a sausage roll and get snug ready for Corrie!

I hope everyone is keeping well and cozy. We don't have passenger trains anymore so they're aren't a problem in the winter.

Icy streets, icy pavements, side roads not cleared - all sounds vaguely familiar some how, I wonder why ------------------ Oh yea ITS WINTER

It ok Pauline we haven't seen the handydart bus for the handicapped lady from across the street for a while, she must be getting bored too.
