RMS is probably having a good snigger!

Aside from potatoes, we have run out of fresh fruit and veg and only have a bit of frozen cauliflower, and peas left + 4 eggs, but we won't starve. Lots of meat, fish and a certain amount of cheese. We could always eat the dreaded frozen sprouts bought for our Christmas guests - lol There is one loaf left in the freezer but I have some ancient bread flour and dried yeast, if needs must. At least it would be one way of giving up the dreaded weed as they are running low as well.

I suppose we'll be able to get rid of all the tinned stuff that's been in the back of the cupboard for ages.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 2 Dec 2010 10:13

It may be best to leave those tins until last, in case you have a prolonged power cut and lose the frozen stuff...although with the temps you are having, you could probably put it outside , lol

I wouldn't need to put it outside DET, it's cold enough in the garage to keep it frozen.

No - sorry - the wine has run out :((

OH has dug the car out but the neighbour with 4WD says the roads are slippery and he got stuck in a snowdrift at Sains car park. At least the snow plough has been down the main rd now, so we will think about it tomorrow...or Saturday....or Sunday lol

I've got a bottle of Sangria and an eleven year old bottle of wine that I bought in 1999 for the Millenium. I was keeping it for posterity but could possibly be persuaded to open it lol!!

Laugh as much as you like!

The weather is so changable in the UK, its a safe topic of conversaton, and would be considered a micro climate in a massive country like Canada. In comparison, we are a small island.

Trouble is, no 2 winters (or spring, summers or autumns) are the same. We could all go out and buy snow tyres tomorrow at a cost of £50 up wards per tyre (except LG who could probably get them wholesale) use them for say 10 days this winter, take them off and have them cluttering the garage/garden shed up for the next 3 years, by which time they have gone flat!

The same goes for the Council snow ploughs and gritters. The Highway Agency looks to the main routes first and if it isn't a bus route, doesn't go into side roads. And our train network is plagued with problems with the electric 3rd rail which gets iced up! Welcome to Britain!

morning all chilly but not too much more snow overnight however we have cancelled youth again tonight
so I am in for the party

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 3 Dec 2010 08:51

Morning all - OH is feeling like Lurch (Adams? Family - lol ) so we are unlikely to attempt to go shopping today. Don't think he will attempt to re-clear the drive again, but at least that should be the end of our snow for the forecastable future.

They said that the NE has had up to 80 cm of snow. Makes our 32/34 cm seem piffling!

Shame the youth club is cancelled tonight, although I understand why...they'd probably welcome somewhere else to go after all this time.

Morning all, very cold again but I shall pull on the hat and scarf and venture out to post some letters soon. I get all car parts wholesale and of course my car fixed for nothing LOL.

Will have to use daughter's lappy tonight for the party as I forgot I am sitting with littlies while they go out . So much for my plans of doing nothing LOL. Stilll they are never any bother tucked up in their beds thank goodness.
