Good morning and a happy Mother's Day to everyone.

Gd has text me and asked what my profile pic is like so I am pleased!

It is a beautiful day here, so me thinks the lawn mower will be giving it's first airing of the season!

Other unmentionables to do as well, plus a visit with some flowers to the churchyard, so a busy day ahead.

LG, if your b*m had got stuck we could have called out the fire brigade! You are such a spoil sport lol!!

Enjoy your day everyone, catch up with you later!

Hi everybody, I've been busy in the garden the last few days, so just had a quick read of the posts to catch up.

I've forgot what I read now.......... must be my age.

The weather doesn't know what to do today, every time I put washing out - it rains, but it stops as soon as I bring it in.

Hope you're all having a lovely Mother's Day.

You did well with the prezzies YG, pity about the sore tongue though.

Ohh, I've just noticed I've got that little triangle on this reply box, wonder if it's because I've just updated my Firefox.

DET, my first husband was born in Burwash, quite close to the Kipling house. I used to go to Burwash every year to see his family.

Oh, you might be related to my son Maz.

His surname is very rare up here, in fact - there are only 2 in the phone book with that name and those 2 are my son's uncle and cousin. I've just started to research his family down there and I can't believe how common the name is. I think half of East Sussex must have my son's surname.

The records have been very easy to find, maybe it's because Burwash is such a small place.

Well have I been a busy girl or not!!

It started to spit with rain after a lovely start to the morning, so instead of doing the grass I cleared out the shed and went to the tip lol!!

We have just had a tremendous downpour with hailstones and it is brightening up again now.

Time for a break, and then think about dinner!

Well, with all of our off route meanderings, we probably went past someones Ancestor's house - lol.

Just been that way again to visit the in-laws. At least the car can find it's way by itself, but OH decided to try the rural way home....and forgot there was a fairly major sporting event en route which meant more detours. At least I can claim innocence!!!!

Shame about the weather oop norf - at least you occupied your time usefully. It's been lovely - sunny and mild.

Glad you found the triangle Pauline - just goes to show it was linked to a firefox 'improvement'

edit - just noticed that Maz was worried about the builders and her flowers. Does this mean the chocolates are all gone???? (And she didn't even offer to share)

Morning all, glad to see you all enjoyed your mohers' day celebrations. We have our special day on the first Sunday in May so I have that to look forward to.

Our expressway jaunt was uneventful. I managed to "steer" OH in the direction of a garden nursery however being a male his idea of shopping was asking me if I had everything I wanted five minutes after we arrived. It was a very short visit. I did managed to grab two indoor plants to replace the plastic ones which have been gathering dust for the last century.

Had a marathon phone call email exchange with the blonde one last night. She sent me the email details of possible houses, and then we discussed the pros and cons over the phone. No closer to making a decision but there is plenty of time. Yesterday we went and had a look at a couple of houses including one which was completely outside her price range. Ooooooooh nice to see how the rich people live - all that chrome and glass and shiny floor tiles throughout.

Maz do you remember when we were looking at Rowley's travels. I have the census page with Rowley aged 3 and her family sitting on my desktop. Can not imagine why I have kept it. Do you have it??

I am surprised the catapult worked. Someone must have replaced the elastic since I used it as transportation. Just be careful with the hard centred choccies, they can cause breakages.

YG Report 3 Apr 2011 22:33

Oooh what a good idea Aunty!! I have some chocolate covered honeycomb nuggets here. They should do nicely lol!!

I'll just load them up >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

and then run off under the duvet!

You know, I never realized how tiring selling cookies is and all I did was sit there and made change while the girls looked cute and made people feel sorry for them and buy the cookies. But I have been doing it ALL weekend. The sparks sold 26 cases and the Brownies sold 15, but you have to admit that 5&6 yr olds are cuter then 7&8 yr olds.

Morning all - well done RMS's sales littlies - that's quite an achievement. Hopefully thats it for another year. Are Jumble Sales popular in your area? That's quite a good fund raiser if you have support from the parents to help.

My Mothering sunday gift is delayed - they've clubbed together to pay for an 'Wine and Fine Food' evening in June at our favourite but pricey Italian restaurant. It will be worht the wait.

Eldest is playing nursemaid - the DnV bug hit her household with people falling ill one a day from Friday. She is the last one standing! Hopefully the first victim will have recovered enough to care for her when/if she gets it.

That sounds like a nice night DET, as it's in June - is it going to be an amalgamation of Mother's Day and Father's Day?

Hmm, Aunty's hubby sounds a bit like mine, as soon as we walk in a shop door he asks........ "How long are you going to be?"

Maz, I'd never heard of that site, it's brilliant thanks. I'd gone back to 1767 with his ancestors but that site has them as far back as 1580. I hadn't planned on doing any work on my tree today but I just know I'm going to be stuck up there all day now.

Hi There, I am here and about to delve back into the realm of family history research.

I have rocks in my head. Renovating houses is easier.

Oh well I'd better go see which branch of the tree needs the most attention. Hopefully I will pick the branch with the most information available.

Actually if truth be told I have no idea where to begin. Think I'll just dive in the deep end and........"splash!!!!!!"
