+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jan 2011 09:20

Sound like me - need the nicotine fix, (not you I know) 3 cups of coffee and at least 30 mins...possibly more, just to wake up and get dressed. Unlike OH, I do my waking up vertically - lol

There used to be a lady on the radio (years ago now) who used to give strtching/mobility exercise first thing in the morning. Grandad was a firm believer in them. Ah - those were the days..well before my time of course lol

LOL do you mean Eileen Fowler or was she only on the early days of TV?? all I remember is my Dad's rude comments when she came on.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jan 2011 09:36

The name sounds familiar.........could be her. I remember spotting Grandad, an elderly rotund gent under 5 ft, laying on his bed waving his legs around lol. Can't think why we were there so early.

Thats what he looked like - lol

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jan 2011 09:43

He was quite inventive, in a Heath Robinson type of way. Put up loads of grab rails all over the place made out of various salvaged pieces, and a glued a rubber door stop ( remember them?) on his NHS hearing aid so he could put it in more easily lol Suprised the weight didn't make it fall out.

There but for the grace of God Pauline!

My father (his son) didn't like him, but as he himself got older came to admire his inventiveness...........and followed in his footsteps with bodged jobs (which OH had to sort out) everywhere lol

My dad used to cobble our shoes and put segs in them so they'd last longer.

Edit: And he was very handy with sticky tape and glue, he didn't give up on things easily, always liked to get his wear out of everything.
