For a change no wind and it was bin day...yay :-D :-D

Daughter back this afternoon and no doubt will have a load of washing and then we are to start taking down all the xmas decs etc. So a busy afternoon for me

I played schools for two and a quarter hours :-( Still it kept her occupied and out of mummy’s hair. Eventually she declared that I could go home ~ so I did.

We have moved the pictures around and they are installed in their new place, so that is something else done.

Tomorrow morning, I am going to take the tree and all the decorations down, so that will entail giving everything a good clean. It will be nice to get things back to normal. The.n for my sins, I said that I would go and play with Esme again in the afternoon. M

I made the soda bread using milk made up with the marvel and its worked . I added cranberries to it and it tastes delicious. So glad i made it now.

Sun is out and now blue sky but it is freezing cold and have now put on my heating.

Have fun Linda! :-D

I like soda bread, but rarely. Make bread these days.

I went to Slimming World this morning, it wasn’t bad considering all the junk and alcohol which I have had. I need to get back on the diet to get back to my target range.
I then went to an art shop to buy two more prints of the town. I bought two for the kitchen when we had it done. I have two paintings in the dining room, but want to move them into the bedroom to finish that off, so I have bought two more prints for the dining room to match those in the kitchen. I then went to Aldi, so am organised for the rest of the week.

I am going to go and play with Esme this afternoon as both her parents are working. Her dad is tucked away upstairs, so doesn’t get bothered, but her mums study is downstairs, so she is having to try and look after Esme at the same time as working

Afternoon all
Its still a bank holiday up here so very quiet on the roads and no postie until tomorrow.

There have been some snow showers and it did cover the roads last night but some has melted. Light flurries really although the sky is black and heavy looking so maybe another shower on its way.

I have been removing all the batteries from the xmas decs and recharging them. It will make life easier at the weekend when we take down all the decs etc

The place will need a good dust and spring clean afterwards and will as per and look so bare!

I was going to make some soda bread as have run out of bread and none in the freezer but I only have 1/4 pint of milk left until daughter returns on Saturday or i can get my friend to get some then.

But.... i can make a loaf in the beadmaker as that uses Marvel and i do have a tin.

Has anyone ever made butter milk using marvel made up and lemon juice? I normally use ordinally milk with lemon juice and leave to stand for 5 minutes and that makes the butter milk but never used Marvel in this way!

But the real difference is Soda bread needs no proving so very quick to make as against the beadmaker of 3 1/4 hours!!

Well just having a coffee to warm my hands as it is cold today but a bit early to put the heating on!

Hope everyone looking in is warm and cosy today

Happy New Year to everyone.

We had a very quiet New Year ................... I was in bed and light turned out before 11 pm! I can't even make it to midnight these days!

The big change is that the temperature is dropping, makes a huge change from those double digit days and lots of rain! It's only about 3C now, at about 3:00 pm!

One of the choices for dinner last night was turkey meatballs .............. only they changed their minds yesterday, and we had roast turkey with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and a carrot/squash mix.

Much nicer for a New Year's Eve dinner!

It is early afternoon and we have just got back home. I am tired as it was about 1.15 am before I went to bed and then it took me ages to get to sleep. The wind and rain woke me a couple of times in the night, so I am looking forward to an early night tonight. I am getting to be too old for all these shenanigans :-(

Happy New Year!

Some snow on the hills, but it's finally stopped raining after days of downpour, and there's a bit of blue sky - so a good start, at least as far as weather's concerned!

Happy New Year everyone
We are going to stay overnight with our daughter, just watching movies and having the odd drink :-D. We will have a pretend New Years Eve for Esme using the recorded fireworks from last year. We all pretend to go upstairs, but then all come back now for the real thing. :-D

I am sorry that your OH was so difficult over Xmas Sylvia, but Hanukkah sounds interesting

It was very windy here overnight, I woke up several times because of the noise. The forecast for tomorrow night isn’t good, the open air concert and Fireworks in the nearby town have already been cancelled

although most of the snowdrops are still below ground, today I discovered one small clump actually in bloom!

Such an uplifting thing to see!

Afternoon all
Good to hear from you Sylvia but sorry that OH was a bit difficult to deal with. I guess as this is your first xmas away from home, it must be hard for him.

it is very wet & windy here and blooming cold. There were hailstones earlier and Im sure it was sleeting. We are on alert for snow anyway! Of course it was bin day lol but they have been and gone and bins are safely tucked in for another 3 weeks.

I'm fine now just a bit tired but migraine away thank goodness. i have been a sufferer all my life but just sometimes they come for no specific reason and I just have to live with it,

I have cleared all the clothes in the ironing basket but still have my duvet set which I'm going to do after this as I want to strip my bed and then its all nice and fresh.

Daughter has gone away today for a week so i can potter at my own pace, have less washing and less cooking. There is plenty to do as my bedroom is crammed with gifts from xmas and various other stuff that all needs sorting out and putting back in cupboards etc.

I have 2 birthdays in January and I have the cards and presents so another job there to keep me busy parcelling up ready to send.

I noticed today the crocus bulbs are quite far up but i hope the snow and cold weather wont kill them off. Rose bushes have finally lost their buds but still full with leaves as are other plants :-S

i hope everyone looking in today is well and keeping warm.

Back to the ironing!
