I would ease off on the sweets Mel. It probably means that you could be pre diabetic. The same reason I have to go back for another test tomorrow week (for a re-test.)

I did cook my chicken crown in the air fryer and that was lovely.
Had a text from the doc's yesterday to say my blood sugar was up 2 whatever that means but I have to go back in three months for another test as she said with it being after Christmas perhaps thats why. I did get lots of sweets at Christmas and am still working my way through them.

Mel if you cook chicken in the oven as a tray bake or somehow without liquid, just do it the same in the air frier. I use foil trays in my air frier as it saves having to clean the actual air firer every time. You might need to experiment with the temperature. I sometimes fing it need about 5 degrees higher than the fan temp but often not as long.

Been out in the garden as its dry I cut some of the twiggy branches off the fallen apple tree and put them over the side where I have a bonfire.
Hungry now so a nice big bowl of soup I think.
Hope G's eyes are improving and that he can get more drops before they run out. Any news on that?
Mandy I must try chicken in the air fryer as Iv'e not yet. I did do a steak slice and lattice chips and that was ok.

Morning all,
Its not frosty or windyhis morning but its dingyull and dire. Its 3 degrees and pc says cloudy.
Don't know why but I was so tired last night I went to be at 11.30pm which is early for me. got up twice for the loo and the second time it was still dark so I went back to bed again and slept but had funny dreams about someone converting a lawn mower to sit on and take you about but it was low to the ground like a pushy mower. It had levers to guide it and turn it and it went over gravel. I was in this village and I had a stall with lots of stuff on it but someone put it out for me. I did'nt sell anything.

Afternoon All,
It's been chilly here and only a bit of sun earlier.
I must get my car washed soon, it has green bits coming on the rubber and is white, or should be.
I hope Lewis was able to help withn the wood if it came Mandy. I can just picture his crestfallen face when he thought he might not be able to help you. My little brother when he was small always liked to be able to help when I was washing the cars. I think the water and sponge were the attraction. I too have Ancestry if you need anything. :-)
I see they are going to put driving licences on an App eventually, but they have to make it so your address can be temporarily hidden first. The world is moving on faster than me and I hate the thought that so much is held on a phone that can be easily snatched from your hand!
Speaking of which, I was watching in the news this morning about Countesthorpe Academy's state of the art Reimagined Gaming Space which is a bespoke 26 seater gaming arena to study ESports. It looks futuristic and must have cost a fortune! I lived in the village (about 5 miles away) when I was first married and used to go to their cinema club!
Vera I think I put the measurement of our first TV as the one we have now is 48 inches, which is why it is a bit wider than the stand. The wall bracket we had on our tv in the bedroom where we had wardrobes fitted a little while ago is much better than the others we have on 2 tvs. It pulls forward from the wall so you can clean behind it easily or hide the plug sockets behind it, but can pull it forward to get to them and you can tilt it either way as well as up or down. No wires visible anywhere. Our other brackets tilt and turn, but you can't pull the tv forward to get behind it with those. I suppose with sound bars now there would have to be a shelf too.
Mel, all the hospital would have done would be to tell him to come down, as they did last year. They wouldn't do him a prescription till he arrived and he would have to wait his turn with a full waiting room and sometimes people standing as well. I don't think you realise what it is like at our city hospitals. The Infirmary has a queue the length of the road with over a 20 minute wait to get into the carpark in normal times and they are busier than ever now. It's usually a case of wait for a car to come out before the barrier lifts to let you in. It's why I drop him off and come back to pick him up. A friend who went to a clinic there yesterday said a long corridor was lined with trolleys with patients on them waiting for beds and that wasn't at A&E. She commented that she was glad no-one on them looked dead as she was walking along! With all the flu, covid and other viruses at the moment he wants to stay out of hospitals if he can. Hopefully he will get the drops at the chemist on Monday and, if not, then we will have no choice but to go to the hospital. He could be waiting hours there just for a prescription and there's no jumping the queue to be seen or them leaving it for him to collect.
Better finish the food order for tomorrow now. It comes round so quick!

Not read back yet, just in from shopping.
It is horrible out there now, - a bitter damp fog has developed and increased as the day went on. It's the sort that wraps you in cold wetness :-| :-0
Went into Sainsbury's for just a couple of things... well that was the plan ;-)
We did get some bargain jars of mincemeat though, Mandy, so mabe you will be luckier there. Jars were 16p each for what we used to call the 1lb size jars. They were dated April 2026, so I bought 2 jars :-D

I slept okish but not as well as I have been doing. I was sleeping for a couple of hours then waking again and dreaming all the time. Hopefully will be better again tonight. I have not done a lot today. One load of washing and made five birthday cards and then unloaded the Tesco delivery.
I am sure that you will be so used to a larger TV that you will just feel it is normal.. Maybe have a corner of the lounge where you can sit not looking at it when sport is on.
Ah that is good that daughter and ex wife are friends, that will be a big help for your daughter. somebody to talk about him with. I was lucky as most of my U3a friends knew T as he was a member as well. They will often talk about him and about his garden so that is nice.

BIL gone now but he did pick up the sticks off the side lawns outside the wall and from the top field then he came in and I fed him homade soup and a big ham roll and then he had another big bowl of soup. He went off home to have anap before picking his wife up from work.
You'll soon get used to the big telly Vera. I think somewhere I have a stand that fixes to the wall that oh never used.

Good afternoon all
We didn't get the fog we were promised today but it is very grey and miserable. Here we are at the warmest part of the day and the temperature has reached the giddy heights of 3 degrees and apparently feels like 1. I'm not going outside to find out.
I hope you slept better last night AnnG. Yes, daughter gets on very well with her late partner's ex-wife. As a married couple S.and his wife didn't somehow gel but it was an amicable divorce and they stayed good friends. She has been a big support to my daughter through all this. As to the TV, 50" is big; our old one is 40". Our room is quite big but it still seems a bit too dominant to me but OH likes it. Part of the problem is that our main room is just a flat walled rectangle with no alcoves or chimney breast. I don't think we'll get neck problems if it goes on the wall as we wouldn't put it up too high and the couch we sit on opposite it is very upright and firm. It was specifically bought to support our backs. If it stays where it is we will have to buy a slightly larger cabinet for it to sit on. We're still thinking about it.
Mandy, I hope your wood turned up OK and Lewis enjoyed helping stack it. It is useful having family nearby to lend a hand when needed. I found that other cheesecake recipe in the first issue in 1974 of a little magazine called My Freezer. My memory was playing me false. It was a vanilla cheesecake with apricot topping. It's a bit fiddly as it needs cottage cheese and cream cheese, eggs and various other ingredients and then it has to be baked. You also need a tin of apricot pie filling for the topping and I am not sure if you can still get that. I suppose you could just decorate it with drained, tinned apricots. I had forgotten what a palaver it was to make. Anyway, I am more than happy to type it out and send it to you. Just let me know if you still want it.
At this point OH called out that he had toasted some crumpets for a snack lunch so I went to eat. He called them toasted, I called them burnt ;-) The colour varied from dark brown to black and they were definitely crunchy. We had them in the lounge and he put the TV on to watch snooker. It made me realise how quickly we have got used to having a big TV. When it's switched on to a programme it seems perfectly normal, it's when it's off that it seems to dominate the room. I can't see OH wanting to go back to the old one now so I'll just have to try and arrange things so the room looks OK. That will take a bit of thought.
I'm now going to go and see what veg I can sort out to go with the chicken thighs I took from the freezer this morning. Then I might sit in the warm and sort out various catalogues and money-off vouchers etc as I m sure most of them could go in the bin now. Stay warm and enjoy the rest of the day whatever you are doing.

Its nice to know he is eager though Mandy.
BIL is here and he's out with the mower and trailor picking up all the sticks off the grass outside the wall so he can give it a trim. I am going to get more put in the soup then pick up some sticks in the orchard.

Morning all,
Dull and very grey here this mroning 4 degrees and pc is telling me it feels like 0.
I had a funny dream last night about the bantams I used to have. I was looking for them and only found one and then I was on the west lawn calling them and two came running across for some corn and then there were two big white swans that also came so I have tofeed them seperately. Where that came from I have no idea.
I wonder if BIL will turn up today?
