Enid Gaynor Evans nee Greenaway

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Glyn Report 6 Feb 2025 14:00

I've recently started to try and trace relatives again and started with those I can remember. This is my cousin Gaynor. I've found out she died aged 38 on 21.9.1978 in Dinas Cross, Dyfed.
I want to know anything about her life. Whether she had any children. Her father died tragically electrocuted when in a crane and his gib touched an overhead wire so I wondered about her death too.
Any help would be appreciated. She was born in 1940 in Pontypridd to Ted and Ethel Greenaway
Thank you

Look for possible births of children using freebmd

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

VERY easy site to use

Info is too recent for posting on this insecure site.

If you find births.............follow-up by looking for subsequent marriages etc

Also check whether her husband re-married

I can't see any record of a marriage for Greenaway to Neale (the MMN on Enid's birth reg)

alviegal Report 6 Feb 2025 15:10

He is recorded as Henry E C Greenway ErikaH.

Henry Edward Christopher Greenaway b 1919.

He actually died along with another man as they had hold of a girder steadying it. The crane was being operated remotely by another man and the wire ropes of the crane touched electric cables. Poor men.

There are a possible 4 births to the marriage in the Pontypridd area in the time frame between the marriage and her death - use the freebmd site as ErikaH suggested to find them.

If she married in 1962 in Pontypridd, and if the Andrea mentioned here is actually Amanda (or else born after emigration) , this seems to be her husband's obituary.

If so, she was still living last September, in Vancouver.

Frederick Gwynfryn Evans

Gwyn was born in Aberdare, S. Wales to parents Ben and Lydia Evans. He was the youngest of 5 children. Gwyn passed away at Richmond General Hospital at age 85.
Gwyn attended technical school where he excelled at technical drawing. He received an apprenticeship with Aberdare Engineering, and graduated as a Steel Fabricator from Llandaff Technical College.
in 1974, Gwyn, with his wife and 3 children immigrated to Vancouver. He was initially employed by Dominion Bridge, and later Burrard Dry Dock, where he worked on the icebreakers Pierre Radisson, Franklin and the Queen of Coquitlam ferry. Following a car accident in 1986, Gwyn learned AutoCad and produced drawings for projects throughout N. America.
In 1980, he and 2 other Welshmen founded the Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir. Gwyn sang with the choir as a tenor for 40 years. In 2016, he was honoured and proud to be chosen as Celtic Person of the Year.
He loved sport and participated in soccer, rugby, golf and table tennis. He was an avid advocate for Tai chi and practiced daily.
Gwyn loved life, nature and his family above all else. He battled serious health problems, but maintained a positive attitude and appreciated every day.
Gwyn is predeceased by his siblings and his son Gareth. Left with precious memories is his wife of 62 years, Gaynor, daughters Andrea (Rob)and Paula (Martin), Wil (Gareth) and grandchildren Katie (Shane), Trevor and Brian.
A celebration of Gwyn's life will take place on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Contact [email protected] for details.

Funny (ie strange!)

OH was approached several times to join the Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir, and I'm pretty certain one of those who approached him was called Gwyn ................ but that doesn't mean that he was THIS Gwyn Evans!
